Virtual Marketing Agency

SBMS Media is a full service virtual marketing agency. Our team handles all of your marketing and advertising needs for a fraction of the cost of hiring a marketing director.
Our mission is to support free enterprise.  We do this by providing competitively-priced, 360°, expert-level marketing, and advertising services to startups and small businesses nationwide.

As a veteran small business owner, Nicole Crocker has a unique, first-hand perspective of the challenges that entrepreneurs are faced when building a company.

In 2011, in the middle of a recession, she and her husband opened up what is now one of San Diego’s Top Home Remodeling Companies.  They turned a startup into a $10m per year business.  Nicole was responsible 100% for building the brand.

She has first-hand experience developing brands outside of the construction industry, as well, including coaching, live events, professional services, corporate performers, and more.

Her virtual marketing agency has launched both simple and complex advertising campaigns.  In fact, at one point, they even produced a television show that aired on Fox 5 San Diego as part of a strategic marketing campaign.

Nicole leads her virtual marketing company with over 26 years of experience in sales, marketing, and advertising.  15 years were spent in B2B (Business to Business) marketing while the last 11 years of her career were in B2C (Business to Consumer).

Should You Hire How do you Grow Your Business?

There are really two options for small business owners who want to scale their business intentionally.  They can hire a marketing manager or hire a virtual marketing agency.
Let’s review the pros and cons to each, so you can determine what the right option might be for you.

HIRING A MARKETING MANAGER

PROS:
What are the advantages of hiring a marketing manager? First, a marketing manager can develop and implement an effective marketing strategy. This can help you reach your target market and improve your overall profitability.

Second, a marketing manager can oversee all aspects of your marketing campaigns, including advertising, public relations, and product development.

They will be part of your team and can possibly help with other tasks you need to be done (not wise, by the way)

CONS:
There are several potential drawbacks to hiring an inside marketing manager. First, it can be expensive.   An inside marketing manager typically costs more than an outside consultant ($150k+, burdened – without adding the extra spend you have to include for advertising costs).

Second, there is the risk that the manager will not be able to sufficiently meet the needs of the company. There is also the possibility that the manager will not be able to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of marketing.

Finally, there is the possibility that the manager will not be able to adapt to the company’s culture.

HIRING A VIRTUAL MARKETING AGENCY

PROS:
There are many benefits of working with a virtual marketing company. Here are some key advantages:

-You can get expert help without the high cost of an in-house team.

-You get specialized attention in each area of marketing and advertising which results in a robust campaign,  providing a higher ROI than in any other method available.

-You can scale up or down your marketing services as needed, without the overhead of an in-house team.

-A virtual marketing company can be more flexible than an in-house team, making it easier to try new things and pivot quickly if something isn’t working.

-You can work with a virtual marketing company from anywhere in the world.

CONS:
There are a few potential downsides to working with a virtual marketing company.
First, you may not have the same level of control over the project as you would if you were working with an in-house team. This can be mitigated by clearly defining roles and expectations at the outset of the project.

Second, they are not in the same office as you – however, after COVID, most small business owners aren’t as concerned about this aspect as much as they once were.

What is it like to work with a virtual marketing agency?

SBMS Media has a unique 3 Step Process for working with new clients.   This is what you can expect when you contact us for more information.

    • Initial Consultation:  You will spend up to 1-hour sharing information about your company including what your brand services or products are, what your goals are, and what marketing materials you currently have.

  • Campaign Review:  Approximately 1 week later, you will meet with your Marketing Director again to review campaign options.  Each campaign option will include PROS/CONS and a budget.

  • Proposal Review: You will meet with your Marketing Director a third time to review a final, actionable agreement complete with timelines.  At this point, you will either sign the agreement to move forward, or part ways as friends.

Once you have hired SBMS Media, an onboarding call will take place and campaigns will begin immediately. Weekly reports are sent out on Fridays wit or without a call, whatever your preference is and monthly we do a deep dive into analytics and reporting. We review campaigns together once a quarter.
